History of development of KRIGER Company
The plant was founded in 1944 as a craft enterprise. The main specialization of the plant was the production of industrial food equipment and its repair.
Since 1999 the plant requalified for the production of boiler equipment, believing, that this direction in heat engineering is promising. The plant is a subdivision of “Kriger” energy holding.
“Kriger” energy holding includes several powerful enterprises, and based on the common goal, it achieves success quite quickly and today is one of the leaders in the production of boilers in Ukraine and Europe.
“Kriger” company won favor easily on the territory of Ukraine and abroad, owing to its high-quality, well-established production process, fast service and ability to respond to any customer`s question in time and with full dedication.
The production has a full-cycle of building a “turnkey” business, related to the production of thermal energy: selection and development of equipment, produced by “Kriger” company, reconstruction and new construction of boiler-houses, technologies for the production and sales of thermal energy, production and logistics of biofuel supplies, support of technology of production of thermal energy.
A number of such projects, successfully implemented by our company, allowed our partners to implement them in EU countries, as well as in many regions of Ukraine, and CIS countries.
Today, “Kriger” company is:
- 25 years of work and research experience in the field of heat-supply and energy saving technologies;
- our own design office, which provides design services and development of design and estimate documentation for construction and reconstruction of heat-generating facilities;
- our own design bureau, which has developed about 100 types of heat-generating equipment;
- accredited laboratory for quality control of heat engineering equipment;
- production and implementation of complex boiler equipment:
- solid fuel hot water-boilers with capacity of up to 10MW;
- solid fuel boilers, operating with superheated water, with capacity of up to 10MW;
- solid fuel steam boilers with capacity of up to 13 tons of steam per hour;
- solid fuel boilers, operating with high-temperature organic carriers (HOC), with capacity of up to 10MW;

The production facilities of the enterprise are equipped with the best equipment of the leading global manufacturers: (VANAD – the Czech Republic, FRONIUS – Austria, HYPERTHERM – the USA, DAVI – Italy, HACO – Belgium). Usage of modern technologies (technology of orbital welding of tubes` boards, powder spraying of metals, high-precision casting according to molten models, use of heat-resistant concrete), constant improvement of manufactured products, and expansion of the model range with the help of modern computer 3D programs, intellectual capital of highly-qualified specialists of our enterprise provide high quality and reliability of manufactured products.
All the company`s products have EU and Ukrainian certificates of conformity, and the company itself has all permits for construction of “turnkey” boiler-houses.
The enterprise has implemented a quality management system according to the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2008. The certification was carried out in accordance with the approved methodology of TÜV NORD CERT.
A “TURNKEY” BOILER-PLANT PROJECT
Solid fuel hot-water boilers with mechanical combustion of fuel with humidity up to 55% on a movable bar grate.
High-tech boiler plants, which are provided for operation in automatic mode with minimal human intervention. They are created on the basis of the latest engineering achievements and proven advanced solid fuel combustion technologies, boilers with movable bar grates are considered to be the most efficient samples of the world`s boiler construction.
Boilers, produced by “Kriger” company have a number of features, that make them ideal for burning of various kinds of fuel with humidity of up to 55%, at the same time corresponding to all European standards and norms for flue gas emissions into the environment:

Solid fuel steam boilers for the production of superheated water with a mechanized process of burning of fuel with humidity of up to 55%, on a movable bar grate.
High-tech boiler plants that provide for operation in an automatic mode. Boilers for production of superheated water are heating plants that use water as coolant at temperature at 160°С, as a rule, and an operating pressure of up to 16 Bar, which are used in technological processes or heating systems.

The main purpose of steam boilers manufactured by “Kriger” company is production of saturated or superheated steam, which is used for the technological needs of industrial enterprises, as well as in heating, ventilation and hot water supply systems.
Due to the use of a well-proven technology of biomass burning on a movable bar grate in combination with a three-pass furnace and modern design, Kriger steam boilers possess the best technical characteristics and operational qualities.
“Kriger” steam boilers are characterized by high efficiency and guaranteed environmental friendliness, low operating costs together with full automation and maximum reliability.
The material used for heat-exchange parts of the boiler complies with the current regulations for the control of industrial boilers.
The “Kriger” steam boilers` range is equipped with all necessary auxiliary equipment for operation.
Scope of supply of a steam boiler:
- heat-exchanger with horizontal smoke pipes;
- furnace with a movable bar grate;
- fuel supply device;

- system of automatic pneumatic cleaning of heat-exchanger and economizer pipes;

Solid fuel thermal oil boilers with a mechanized process of burning fuel with humidity of up to 55% on a movable bar grate.
Solid fuel thermal oil boilers manufactured by “Kriger” company are a new solution for heat production in industrial processes, that require high technological temperatures.
The design of boilers based on a furnace with a movable bar grate and a direct flow water-pipe heat-exchanger ensures their high efficiency, reliability and safety.
Full automation of fuel supply and ash removal is provided, as well as an intelligent system for controlling the combustion process and boiler operation in general.
Direct flow water pipe heat-exchanger is a coil, made of high-quality steel continuous pipe.
A high-temperature coolant is pumped through the inner cavity of the pipe, and the heat-exchanger is heated externally by gaseous fuel combustion products.
The flow of flue gases and heat carrier ensures the maximum possible heat-exchange.
Due to the use of thermal oil as a heat-carrier, and the design features of the direct-flow water-tube heat-exchanger, the system has significant advantages:
- light and compact design;
- high temperature of the coolant (up to 350 ° C);
- working pressure of the coolant – up to 1,6 MP;
- accurate temperature regulation of the coolant up to 1,0°C and high reaction speed;
- high boiler efficiency even with load fluctuations from 30% till 100%;
- guaranteed environmental friendliness and low NOx indicators;
- a boiler-room with thermal oil allows us, with adding of regulators, to supply several consumers with a coolant of different temperatures;
- in case of installing of auxiliary heat-exchangers, it makes it possible to obtain steam and hot water, if necessary;
- the system is not prone to corrosion, and defrosting of the system is excluded, an easy start-up is ensured at any subzero temperature;
- there is no need for a water-chemical treatment regime, deaeration and condensation systems, which gives significant savings in capital costs - up to 15-20%;
- reduction of operating costs due to the absence of water chemical treatment, condensate losses during blowing;
- increase in efficiency of boilers, due to reduction of heat losses due to deaeration, steam condensation, cooling and loss of condensate during blowing.
Experience
Since the very beginning of the “Kriger” boiler plant, an important component of its activity has been the export of equipment. For 25 years of history, “Kriger” boilers have been installed in many CIS countries, France, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Poland, Spain and Great Britain.
Together with our partners from Weiss France a special line of boilers was designed for the market of the European Union. Altogether 52 boilers with a total capacity of 91MW have been manufactured for the French consumers since 2011.
“Kriger” boilers have also earned the trust of Belarusian business, where more than thirty projects have been implemented during this time.
In the period from 2016 till 2019 “Kriger’ LLC delivered 29 hot-water boilers to the UK. The total capacity of boiler plants is 47MW.
The distinctive feature of these projects is the fuel used – wood waste (furniture, chipboard, MDF, etc.), which burning is regulated by the European Waste Incineration Directive (WID).
The morphology of this fuel implies the presence of dangerous pollutants, such as glue, varnish, and as a result – high content of formaldehyde and heavy metals. To solve this problem – a unique combination of adsorption of chemical reagents, flue gases circulation and autonomous control of the combustion process is used. Owing to this, the level of emissions is achieved within the strictest environmental requirements of the British and European legislation without usage of expensive flue gas cleaning systems.
19 of the above-mentioned facilities are cogeneration plants, built in partnership with the high-level O.R.C. turbine manufacturer Electratherm (the USA). Adhering to the individual approach to the implementation of such objects, the engineering group of “Kriger” LLC has developed a modification of the GP series boilers, that are perfectly compatible with the Electratherm turbine model range.
These objects are parts of business projects with high economic efficiency.
Waste disposal and electricity production is combined with heating of production premises, poultry houses, greenhouses, hot water supply and drying of different types of biomass.
Taking into consideration such a large number of objects, a representative office of “Kriger” company was established in the UK in 2019 – Kriger Boilers UK ltd. This company provides a full business cycle: sales of boilers, projects` support, installation and commissioning kinds of work.
To ensure timely and high-quality warranty and service, a team of Ukrainian engineers is constantly present in the UK, who, in addition to all, train British colleagues to work with “Kriger” equipment.
Bio-thermal power plant in the city of Kamyanets-Podilskiy
The first completely new bio-thermal power plant was built by “Kriger” company in the period 2017-2019 years. This project was implemented under the World Bank program “Ukraine District Heating Energy Efficiency Project”.
Brief description of the object:
- Heat capacity – 39MW;
- Electric power – 1,6MW;
- Fuel -wood chips and biomass of agricultural origin, natural gas (as reserve back-up fuel).
The project concept involves the installation of two “Kriger” solid fuel boilers with a total capacity of 15MW and two standby reserve gas boilers with a total capacity of 12MW each. The electricity generating module is equipped with a modern O.R.C. turbine, manufactured by “Enertime” (France). “Kriger” company implemented this project as a general contractor.
“Kriger” LLC boiler plant manufactured and installed two boilers that use superheated water as a coolant (280C, 24Bar), with a capacity of 5MW and 10MW.
Our company also manufactured a fully automatic fuel storage system: two underground bunkers, a connecting bunker of a “Moving floor” type, a grab crane and a system of scraper conveyors. Such combination ensures autonomous operation of the object during a week.
“Kriger” company also developed a two-level SCADA – system for automated control of a cogeneration plant, which provides for the presence of field control panels for all equipment nodes and a central control and monitoring system. The software allows to fulfill remote control of the plant from any gadget.
The turbine is made on basis of Organic Rankine Cycle. Such design is optimal for the needs of the city – simultaneous production of electricity, heating of residential buildings and hot water supply. The Enertime turbine has a number of advantages:
- Simplicity of start – up and stopping;
- Possibility of adjustment from 10% till 100%;
- Absence of erosion on the turbine blades, caused by the use of organic liquids in a closed cycle;
- Absence of special requirements for the qualification of the maintenance service personnel and operators.
This project is unique for the markets of Ukraine and Europe and has received recognition at all levels. Its implementation will save up to 10 million cubic meters of gas per year and provide environmentally friendly electricity.
Research and development
One of the fundamental principles of “Kriger” company`s activity is the constant development of technologies and the development of new types of fuel.
The “Kriger” group owns seven boiler-houses in Zhytomyr, which, in addition to providing the city with heat, act as experimental sites.
The development and research of fuel takes place by direct burning of it at own facilities, we undertake a thorough analysis of raw materials and ash, and only after that the development of a suitable modification of a boiler takes place.
“Kriger” company has become the first one to register officially biomass as the type of fuel in Ukraine, and within 25 years has completely mastered the wooden and agricultural group of energy carriers. Here are only some of these projects:
